Beyond the Bolus: Evolving Strategies in Labor Analgesia/Spine Analgesia

The goal of this program is to improve labor analgesia techniques and outcomes and to improve multimodal analgesia strategies for spine surgery patients. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1) Apply neuraxial ultrasound to improve first-pass success rates for labor epidurals; 2) Select combined spinal epidural or dural puncture epidural techniques for optimal block reliability; 3) Implement ultra-low concentration local anesthetics to reduce motor blockade; 4) Identify appropriate candidates for gabapentinoids in perioperative spine care; and 5) Evaluate the role of methadone in complex spine cases.
