BRCA1 cancers are often triple-negative, grow quickly, and can show up as round, circumscribed masses that look benign on mammography and ultrasound. Many are found as interval cancers. If you read breast imaging, you’ve probably seen one and second-guessed yourself. In this lecture, Dr. Michelle Lee describes how BRCA1 and BRCA2 cancers tend to present on imaging, how carriers should be screened when MRI starts, and when a patient in your practice should be sent for genetic counseling. There’s also a look at newer options like abbreviated MRI and contrast-enhanced mammography for high-risk women.
