Emergency Medicine Core Training (EMCT) is an online foundational training program for providers that are new to acute care medicine. EMCT can fill knowledge gaps and help shape the philosophical approach that physicians need to transition to emergency medicine. For advanced practice providers (APPs), additionally, EMCT has a start to finish multimedia pedagogy that covers the broad range of conditions likely to be encountered in the emergency and urgent care setting. For nurse practitioners (NPs) specifically, since most of their pathophysiology and pharmacology may have been studied years earlier in nursing school, EMCT starts every clinical module with a basic science section (including anatomy and physiology). If the subscriber is comfortable with sections of material, freely advance through the program until you get to the scenario-based learning where there are many live (recorded) interactions with patients and actual photos and radiographic images of various conditions. Foundational training with EMCT is the first step to becoming a confident and competent acute care provider. EMCT works with physician groups and health system organizations to help educate their non-EM trained physicians, PA’s, and NP’s.
