The intention of this session is to prepare clinicians to utilize genetic diagnostics in the care of the cardiovascular patient. This workshop provides a flipped classroom style educational opportunity open to all cardiovascular and electrophysiologists, staff, faculty, residents, fellows, advanced clinical practitioners, technologists, geneticists, and cardiovascular genetic researchers with an interest in learning about basics concepts in genetics and genomics and learning how to apply this information to clinical practice. Participants will work in small groups to work through patient scenarios covering various aspects of clinical cardiovascular genetic testing. Participants will answer questions and will be supported by a diverse panel of moderators who will help the participant small groups. These moderators are experts in clinical genetics from a diversity of backgrounds including physicians and genetic counselors. At the end of the session, workshop speakers will review the answers to the questions for each case and the moderators will form a panel for an interactive question-and-answer session. This session will allow for an introduction to clinical genetics for providers through structured case-based education and serve as an opportunity for discussion with content experts.
