Anesthesia for Electrophysiology Lab Cases/Pain and Myalgias from IV Medications

The goal of this program is to improve anesthetic management for electrophysiology laboratory procedures and improve patient outcomes through reduction of injection pain from propofol, rocuronium, and succinylcholine. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Identify patient-specific risk factors for developing procedural cardiac tamponade. 2. Determine appropriate monitoring and safety requirements for electrophysiology procedures. 3. Implement evidence-based interventions to minimize propofol injection pain. 4. Apply lidocaine with venous occlusion to reduce propofol-related discomfort. 5. Select appropriate pretreatment strategies to decrease rocuronium injection pain.
