Cardiac Anesthesia/Regional Anesthesia/GLP-1 Agonists

The goal of this program is to improve cardiac outcomes in patients undergoing noncardiac surgery, use of regional anesthesia, and outcomes in patients on glucagon-like peptide (GLP)-1 agonists undergoing surgery. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Cite European Society of Cardiology 2022 guidelines for patients with intermediate and higher risk undergoing mediumor higher-risk surgeries. 2. Compare the effects of pericapsular nerve group block and fascia iliaca compartment block. 3. Choose the best route of dexamethasone administration to increase nerve block duration. 4. Determine the risk for residual gastric content in patients taking GLP-1 agonists. 5. Follow American Society of Anesthesiologists recommendations for discontinuing GLP-1 agonists in patients prior to elective surgery.
