Clinical Conversations: Navigating Sexual Health and PrEP Counseling

In this interactive, video-based Patient Interaction Lab, you will observe and evaluate realistic clinical scenarios between a healthcare provider and their patient. This program is designed to guide you through key communication strategies when discussing sexual health and HIV prevention, including: Starting Sexual Health Conversations: Applying the person-centered GOALS framework to create supportive, trust-building conversations Normalizing Routine HIV Testing: Utilizing a status-neutral care approach to transition from negative testing results into proactive prevention Differentiating PrEP Modalities: Using shared decision-making to identify the PrEP option that best fits a client’s unique lifestyle, preference, and adherence needs. Throughout the lab, expert commentary will provide practical guidance on how to navigate these conversations effectively, ensuring clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. You will learn how to introduce PrEP options transparently, validate patient concerns, and foster a collaborative environment that reduces stigma. Upon completion, you will have the opportunity to download relevant evidence to support your clinical practice.
