Biliary tract cancers (BTC) are rare, aggressive malignancies that are frequently diagnosed at an advanced stage, when treatment options and opportunities for disease control are more limited. The complexity of care continues to increase as chemoimmunotherapy, comprehensive molecular profiling, biomarker-directed therapies, and other emerging treatment strategies reshape the management of advanced disease. While these developments are welcomed by clinicians and patients alike, they can contribute to delayed molecular diagnosis, variable treatment selection and sequencing, missed opportunities for personalized therapy, and premature treatment modification or discontinuation. In this activity, expert faculty explore strategies for recognizing and evaluating advanced BTC, individualizing systemic therapy selection and sequencing, based on molecular profiling, and managing toxicities associated with chemoimmunotherapy and targeted therapies. Informed by the surveyed practice patterns of a panel of five BTC experts, learners will have the opportunity to compare their own clinical approaches with those of their specialist counterparts, examine areas of consensus and variability, and gain practical insights that can be readily applied to the care of patients with advanced BTC.
