Integrative and Whole-Person Approaches to Vascular Health: Bridging Science, Systems, and Practice – A JAHA/AHA Journals Session

This session explores the emerging role of integrative health and whole-person care in the prevention and management of vascular disease. As vascular risk factors span biological, psychological, social, and behavioral domains, addressing these dimensions collectively can improve outcomes and patient well-being. Whole-person approaches leverage novel tools, including systems-based models, lifestyle interventions, and emerging digital technologies, to assess and optimize vascular health. Through the expertise of thought leaders in cardiovascular prevention, health services research, systems biology, and integrative medicine, this session will provide a scientific and clinical framework for advancing whole-person approaches to vascular care.

This session will:
Highlight evidence-based integrative therapies and their role in modulating vascular risk factors.
Explore the application of whole-person and systems biology frameworks for vascular disease prevention and management.
Emphasize how stress reduction, physical activity, nutrition, and mind-body therapies impact vascular physiology and patient-centered outcomes.
Discuss practical implementation strategies and preliminary outcomes from large-scale clinical programs.
