Methadone Dosing in the Fentanyl Era

The opioid treatment landscape has changed dramatically with the emergence of fentanyl, yet many methadone dosing protocols remain grounded in data from the pre-fentanyl era. This training provides an evidence-based overview of how fentanyl s unique pharmacological profile affects the safety and efficacy of traditional methadone dosing practices. Through clinical cases, outcome data, and recent research, participants will explore how methadone initiation and maintenance strategies can be adapted to improve engagement and outcomes in the fentanyl era. Special attention is given to rapid initiation protocols, including indications, contraindications, and safety considerations.
