The goal of this program is to improve the use of motivational interviewing (MI) in health care. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Explain the importance of the RULE acronym in MI. 2. Compare the idea of agreement vs adherence in MI. 3. List the components of the DARN acronym in MI. 4. Employ effective use of silence as a listening tool in MI. 5. Differentiate agreement of a patient s experience vs acceptance in MI.
