The goal of this program is to improve methods of preventing surgical site infection (SSI) in patients undergoing colorectal surgery. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: Select evidence-based perioperative care measures to reduce rates of surgical complications. Use warming techniques to promote wound healing. Combine oral antibiotics with mechanical bowel preparation to reduce rates of SSI. Relate effective oxygen management to reduced rates of SSI. Implement recommendations from the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for management of patients undergoing general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation.
