Revealing CKD: Early Detection Strategies to Reduce Cardiorenal Risk

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a common yet underrecognized driver of cardiovascular risk; however, earlier recognition can change the trajectory of cardiorenal disease. In this first of three video podcasts recorded during a live satellite symposium at the American Academy of Family Physicians’ (AAFP) 2025 Family Medicine Experience, a multidisciplinary panel of experts explores how to identify at-risk patients and apply guideline-directed screening tests to detect CKD earlier and reduce the risk of kidney and cardiovascular disease. You’ll see how early detection and timely action can alter patient trajectories through case-based discussion, revealing key clinical crossroads where intervention can improve long-term outcomes. An accompanying CKD Screening and Treatment Worksheet is also available to download and reference in your daily practice.
