Sexual Health and STI Prevention in Primary Care

Any sexually active person is at risk for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), yet few people have had a conversation with a physician about sexual health and STI prevention. Primary care physicians, including family medicine and OB-GYN, can help patients protect themselves by prescribing HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (HIV PrEP) medications and/or doxycycline post-exposure prophylaxis (doxy PEP) for syphilis and chlamydia. This expert panel discussion will cover how physicians can approach sexual health discussions without stigma, normalize talking with patients about sex and STI prevention, and integrate STI prevention into primary care.
