Spotlight on LN: Early Detection Meets Personalized Care

Health care professionals involved in lupus nephritis (LN) care face challenges in recognizing early signs of renal involvement in systemic lupus erythematosus, navigating an increasingly expanding treatment landscape, and addressing persistent disparities affecting Black and Latine patients. Missed or delayed recognition in primary and specialty care, including inconsistent screening urinalysis, delayed nephrology referral, and delayed kidney biopsy when indicated, can contribute to late diagnosis and preventable kidney damage. Personalized care is further limited by uncertainty in interpreting trial data, selecting and sequencing established and emerging therapies and implementing steroid-sparing strategies while monitoring response and toxicity. Education is essential to translate guidelines and evolving evidence into practical, equitable workflows that improve renal outcomes. In this CME Outfitters Snack, expert faculty will review early indicators of renal involvement to support timely LN diagnosis and evaluate the latest evidence on emerging therapies to guide treatment choices, sequencing, and individualized care across clinical settings.
