Course Description and Purpose: The Florida Medical Association (FMA) is collaborating with the Physicians Foundation (PF), American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association (TMA), and Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS) to support physician practices interested in implementing telehealth in their practices. A live bootcamp was offered as a preliminary educational tool to assist participating practices. The FMA is offering a recorded version of this bootcamp to support individual physicians seeking more information about the transition to telehealth. Telemedicine has the opportunity to improve access to care and continuity of care. Many physicians are losing their patients to the direct-to-consumer model of telemedicine which impedes continuity of care. Patients would rather see their own physicians who know them and know their health history. This bootcamp will teach physicians about the telehealth opportunities, benefits, and the limitations. Telehealth is not appropriate for all health visits. There will be specific information on change management when trying to overlay a new process in an existing practice. Course Objectives: As a result of participating in this activity, participants should be able to: Describe how physicians can efficiently augment their practice with telemedicine to improve patient outcomes through continuity of care; Determine best practices for telehealth and develop a plan for telehealth platform implementation, workflow, and ongoing use; and Develop and implement policies and procedures for telehealth use and reimbursement that are specific to the practice and patient population served.
