This presentation will provide a overview of the cytomorphologic features that distinguish between thyroid nodules classified as benign, atypical, neoplasm and suspicious or consistent with Malignancy. The discussion will also include the following: 1) how to make sense and incorporate the clinical and radiology guidelines for management of thyroid nodules into daily practice of thyroid cytology; 2) overview of cytomorphologic overlaps, the current status and applicability of molecular testing of FNA specimens obtained from thyroid nodules and 3) a summary of the 3rd edition of Bethesda System for Reporting thyroid FNA specimens and 2022 WHO classification of thyroid tumors.
