Webinar Series: Reducing AI Risk in Medicine

While medicine is at its core, a moral and scientific enterprise, the introduction of unregulated artificial intelligence into highly regulated healthcare raises many scientific, ethical, legal questions. With regulation struggling to catch up to widespread implementation of AI that continues to change, due diligence of AI safety and fairness remain prudent. While these technologies promise efficiency and improved outcomes, they introduce new and evolving liability exposures for physicians and healthcare organizations. Potential concerns and pitfalls include unclear oversight structures, over-reliance on AI outputs, inadequate documentation, AI “hallucination”, undetected bias, standard-of-care and patient communication challenges, and more. Physicians are encouraged to exercise healthy patient-safety-centered skepticism about AI use in their practice. This CME activity is designed to proactively address these exposures by equipping insured clinicians with practical risk mitigation strategies that reduce malpractice vulnerability while preserving high-quality patient care.
