WRIISC-HOME: Four Ways to Build Trust in Veterans with Military Environmental Exposures – ENDURING (BIS: 22984.59868)

This training is put on by the War-Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC) within Health Outcomes Military Exposures (HOME). The purpose of this training is to enhance healthcare providers’ ability to build trust with Veterans and deliver informed care related to Military Environmental Exposures (MEE). Veteran trust is a critical component of MEE Informed Care, and there are simple, yet often overlooked, actions that healthcare providers can take to foster trust and improve the Veteran experience as well as the therapeutic relationship. Currently, many healthcare providers lack awareness of the fundamentals of MEE Informed Care and the trust-building actions that can significantly improve Veterans’ confidence in the VA’s ability to address their MEE needs and concerns. This knowledge gap contributes to suboptimal care and decreased Veteran trust in the VA system. This training aims to bridge this gap by educating healthcare providers on the basics of MEE Informed Care and specific actions to enhance Veteran trust. By equipping providers with this knowledge, the training will improve their competence and skills in delivering MEE Informed Care, fostering better therapeutic relationships, and increasing Veteran trust in the VA. Improved provider understanding and implementation of trust-building strategies will lead to enhanced patient outcomes, higher levels of Veteran trust, and greater satisfaction with the care provided by the VA. This ultimately supports the VA’s mission to provide high-quality and compassionate care to Veterans. This recorded knowledge-based webinar is appropriate for interprofessional health care teams.
