Risk Stratification in Hospitalized SARS-CoV-2 Patients

Comprehensive patient assessment and accurate risk stratification are cornerstones of effective inpatient management of SARS-CoV-2. However, the absence of a clear consensus on how to categorize patients by risk and the limited availability of validated, reliable scoring systems continues to challenge clinical decision-making. With therapeutic choices often hinging on disease severity and progression risk, healthcare professionals face uncertainty in selecting the most appropriate tools to inform treatment. This educational initiative will offer guidance on navigating the strengths and limitations of existing risk prediction models as well as their application across varied clinical scenarios to enhance individualized patient care and outcomes. In this third installment of a CME Outfitters Snack Series, expert faculty will evaluate clinically supported risk stratification tools and clinical indicators to identify hospitalized patients more accurately with SARS-CoV-2 infection who are at increased risk for progression to severe disease.
