Advancing Frontline Therapy in Mantle Cell Lymphoma: The Evolving Role of BTK Inhibitors

To provide optimal patient care, VHA hematologists, oncologists, nurses, pharmacists, and other health care professionals must be prepared with a comprehensive understanding of the appropriate treatment of patients with MCL and the clinical utility of agents that could significantly impact patient outcomes. The use of BTK inhibitors as frontline therapy represents a novel approach that could benefit many veterans with MCL, including those who would otherwise have a poor prognosis. VHA clinicians must be aware of the clinical data supporting various BTKi combinations and strategies, as well as the options for formulary and non-formulary access, unique characteristics, benefits and risks of each agent. Expert insights from faculty specializing in this relatively rare lymphoma will support VHA oncologists in their quest to improve patient outcomes.
