What Gets Under Patients Skin: Integrating Subcutaneous Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor Formulations into the Management of Solid Tumors in Oncology Practice

The expansion of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) across solid tumors has renewed focus on the logistical burden of repeated intravenous (IV) infusions for patients, caregivers, and oncology practices. As treatment durations lengthen and eligible populations grow, oncology practices face increasing strain on infusion capacity, patient travel burdens, and staffing resources. Emerging data on subcutaneous (SQ) ICI formulations show pharmacokinetic equivalence, manageable safety, and the potential to streamline care without sacrificing outcomes. These developments create a timely opportunity to rethink ICI delivery and to align treatment efficacy with greater patient-centered efficiency. This program aims to translate published evidence and recent authorizations related to SC ICIs into practical, patient-centered decision-making for oncology teams. Videorecorded segments from individuals that received IV and/or SC ICIs are interwoven with faculty perspectives on this information, helping clinicians apply evidence to individualized planning and to the safe, efficient implementation of SC ICIs across practice settings.
