Controversies in Regional Anesthesia Package

Sessions from the 2026 spring meeting. Learning Objectives: After participating in this session, participants should be able to discuss the merits and drawbacks of utilizing liposomal bupivacaine in peripheral nerve blockade, and specify the manner in which it may be administered to provide optimal duration of analgesia. After participating in this session, participants should be able to reflect upon the current regional anesthetic practices in the patient with long bone fracture and assess whether the potential risk of compartment syndrome truly precludes the use of this effective analgesic modality. After participating in this session, participants should be able to formulate an acute pain management plan that balances the benefits and limitations of regional anesthesia and systemic opioid and non-opioid analgesia. After participating in this session, participants should be able to debate the potential benefits of motor weakness in regional anesthesia
