All About Venous Insufficiency Duplex

All About Venous Insufficiency is an enduring educational activity designed to address variability in the performance and interpretation of duplex ultrasound examinations for chronic venous insufficiency. Differences in scanning technique, patient positioning, augmentation methods, Doppler optimization, and interpretation of reflux patterns can contribute to inconsistent diagnostic accuracy and may affect the evaluation and management of patients with venous disease. Through recorded video instruction, written educational content, and knowledge assessment, learners review lower-extremity venous anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics; standardized approaches to venous insufficiency examinations; patient positioning and augmentation maneuvers; Doppler optimization; and methods for identifying and quantifying venous reflux. The activity also addresses interpretation of superficial, deep, and perforating venous findings, common technical pitfalls, and integration of ultrasound findings with clinical presentations. This course is designed to strengthen learners ability to perform standardized venous duplex examinations, optimize Doppler techniques, recognize abnormal reflux patterns, and accurately interpret the distribution and severity of venous insufficiency. Following the activity, learners should be better prepared to produce consistent, diagnostically useful examinations that support appropriate clinical decision-making.
