Beyond the Breakthroughs: Evolving Treatments in Sickle Cell Disease (SCD)

Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a genetic blood disorder that causes significant multisystem morbidity and early mortality. For decades, blood transfusions and hydroxyurea were the main treatments available for SCD. Recently, several gene therapies have been FDA approved and multiple disease-modifying agents are under clinical development for SCD. Dr. Andemariam will discuss new and emerging treatment options for SCD.
