The overview video and example encounters videos intends to raise awareness about starting and sustaining conversations about T1D screening for persons at risk of being in early stages of T1D. The overview highlights the evidence, rationale, and examples for select motivational interviewing strategies, including conversation starters. This also includes a focus on rapport building to build trust, autonomy support to prevent defensiveness when giving information or advice, and using person-centered skills to respond to resistance. The brief example encounters video contrasts delivery of MI-consistent and MI-inconsistent encounters using the cases integrated across the videos, accompanying booklet, and MI pocket card.
