(5) Addiction Medicine Tips for Community Health Centers | This lecture provides healthcare professionals with clinical practice guidance on evidence-based topics for substance use to inform assessment, and person-centered treatment recommendations, special considerations, and medical management of substance use disorder, stimulant use disorder, and alcohol use disorder. After participating in this educational initiative, the learner should be better able to: a. Explore the risks and benefits of monitoring for Substance Use Disorder with urine screens b. Discuss Alcohol Use Disorder management in primary care and providing a framework for who may or may not qualify for outpatient alcohol detoxification c. Understand the medical management of Stimulant Use Disorder Target audience: physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and residents and fellows in Rhode Island specializing in primary care, family medicine, general medicine, pediatrics, and emergency medicine.
