The Menopause Behavioral Health Certification (MBH-C) is an interprofessional continuing education activity designed for a multidisciplinary audience of women’s health professionals, including health and wellness coaches, physicians, nurse practitioners, psychologists, therapists, and other clinical and non-clinical professionals who support individuals through the perimenopause and menopause transition. The program addresses critical gaps in behavioral health knowledge and team-based care across the menopause workforce. As a result of this activity, participants will be able to: (1) Define the role, scope, and best practices of menopause behavioral health support across clinical and non-clinical settings and apply them within their own scope of practice. (2) Explain the physiologic, psychosocial, and behavioral changes associated with perimenopause and menopause and their impact on mental health and wellbeing. (3) Identify common mood, anxiety, sleep, sexual health, vasomotor, and substance use concerns in perimenopause and menopause, and apply appropriate screening and referral approaches. (4) Apply evidence-informed behavioral health strategies, including CBT and motivational interviewing techniques, and trauma-informed, culturally responsive, equity-centered care. (5) Collaborate effectively within team-based care environments to support coordinated, patient-centered behavioral health care across the menopause transition. The program is structured in two parts, a series of 17 self-paced asynchronous video modules, followed by three two-hour sessions of live virtual group mentorship.
