Characterized by chest discomfort or anginal equivalents such as dyspnea or fatigue during exertion and relieved by rest or nitroglycerin, stable angina affects nearly 11 million individuals in the United States. This course reviews the clinical presentation and differentiating factors of stable angina from noncardiac causes, which are essential for timely diagnosis and risk stratification. Participants will also learn appropriate management of this condition, including a multifaceted, evidence-based approach focused on lifestyle modification and pharmacologic therapy to address modifiable risk factors, as well as an interprofessional care model, which is vital for optimizing outcomes and improving quality of life in patients with stable angina. This activity for healthcare professionals is designed to enhance the learner’s competence in identifying stable angina, performing the recommended evaluation, including laboratory testing to exclude alternative etiologies and assess cardiovascular risk, and implementing an appropriate interprofessional approach when managing this condition to reduce the risks of future myocardial infarction and improve patient outcomes.
