Substance use disorder: An introduction for behavioral care providers

Substance use disorder (SUD) is a mental health condition in which a person has a problematic pattern of substance use. Individuals who struggle with substance use can also struggle with one or more mental health disorders. Psychoeducation can help a person recognize the relationship between substance use and mental health, the risk factors of each that may overlap and how treating both conditions simultaneously can be most effective. This on-demand e-module is designed to increase behavioral care providers knowledge about the prevalence of SUD in the US, relevant terminology and the clinical application of psychoeducation as an intervention.
