What s New in Pleural Mesothelioma? Bridging Diagnostic Gaps and Exploring Novel Therapies

Pleural mesothelioma remains one of the most challenging thoracic malignancies to diagnose and treat. Due to its long latency period and non-specific presentation, most patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage, resulting in a 5-year survival rate of less than 10%. While surgery was once a standard approach, it is now reserved for a select subset of patients. Platinum-based chemotherapy remains a cornerstone of therapy but is frequently limited by high relapse rates. Fortunately, the treatment landscape is rapidly evolving with the emergence of novel therapies that promise to be both more tolerable and effective. In this educational program, expert faculty will explore the challenges hindering timely diagnosis, evaluate the limitations of current treatment options, and analyze the latest clinical evidence for emerging novel therapies.
