CPR-AED Essentials for HCP Recertification

Cardiac arrest affects approximately 356,000 people annually in out-of-hospital settings and 292,000 in hospitals across the United States. Despite advances in resuscitation science, survival to hospital discharge for EMS-treated out-of-hospital cardiac arrest remains approximately 10.5%. Bystander CPR is provided in fewer than half of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest cases, and bystander AED use occurs in fewer than 8% of cases. Even among trained healthcare professionals, CPR quality frequently falls below guideline standards during actual resuscitation events, with compression depth, rate, and fraction declining measurably without real-time feedback. The 2025 AHA Guidelines include a clinically significant update to initial defibrillation energy recommendations, creating an immediate need for education aligned with current evidence. This course addresses the gap between current HCP performance and best practices by delivering guideline-aligned, scenario-based training in cardiac arrest recognition, high-quality CPR, and AED integration.
