Drug Development for Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis/Management of Refractory Hepatic Encephalopathy

The goal of this program is to improve management of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) and hepatic encephalopathy (HE). After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Cite the outcome measures by which regulatory bodies determine a drug s effectiveness for treatment of MASH. 2. Identify novel agents in the pipeline for management of MASH. 3. Summarize the role, limitations, and clinical relevance of magnetic resonance imaging-proton density fat fraction in assessment of MASH. 4. Counsel patients and caregivers on the early signs of HE and its effects on quality of life. 5. Implement evidence-based strategies to reduce risk for HE following placement of a transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt.
