Nutritional Management of Short Bowel Syndrome

Short Bowel Syndrome (SBS) is a malabsorption disorder frequently caused by surgical resection of the bowel. It is so important for community providers, especially gastroenterologists, to be aware that individuals with SBS can suffer from malnutrition, dehydration, and electrolyte imbalance, all of which may increase the risk of long-term damage to other organs if not properly attended to. Join Carol Rees Parrish, MS, RDN, a gastrointestinal nutrition support specialist, in exploring how to treat SBS in a patient with an end-jejunostomy.
