Radiology Bootcamp: Plain Films

Radiology Bootcamp: Plain Films is an enduring material designed to provide practical information, strategies, and guidelines to enhance learners clinical skills and knowledge in interpreting plain-film radiographs. This course trains learners in a systematic approach that they can apply consistently when reading plain films, going beyond recognition of common findings. Improving providers skills and confidence in interpreting plain radiographs can lead to more accurate diagnoses and treatment plans, reduce unnecessary callbacks, and ultimately improve patient outcomes. This program is intended for physicians and advanced practice clinicians who order and interpret plain radiographs as part of clinical decision-making, including physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, fellows, residents, interns, and medical students. At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to: (1) Apply a systematic, stepwise approach to interpreting plain radiographs, including musculoskeletal, chest, and abdominal imaging. (2) Differentiate common from high-risk radiologic abnormalities across multiple organ systems. (3) Integrate radiographic findings with clinical context to support diagnostic and management decisions. (4) Recognize the limitations of plain radiographs and identify when advanced imaging or specialist consultation is indicated.
