The First-Trimester Pregnancy: Advanced Clinical Ultrasound Module provides in-depth information on the sonographic evaluation and monitoring of normal embryologic development and pathologic conditions that arise in the first trimester of pregnancy. The course briefly reviews relevant traditional illustrative anatomy and then presents comprehensive characterization of first-trimester pregnancy sonographic anatomy. Sonographic imaging techniques are discussed and include both transabdominal and endovaginal imaging approaches. Transducer selection and disinfection, safety considerations, and pregnancy dating using ultrasound are also presented. The course includes various imaging tips and pitfalls throughout and concludes with a summary of salient teaching points. Learners develop appropriate ultrasound skills through ten hands-on scanning cases from real first-trimester pregnancy patients.
