All About Upper Extremity Duplex is an enduring educational activity designed to address variability in the performance and interpretation of upper extremity arterial and venous duplex ultrasound examinations. Complex vascular anatomy, differences in scanning technique, inconsistent application of standardized protocols and diagnostic criteria, and challenges with ultrasound optimization can contribute to missed or inaccurate identification of arterial and venous pathology. Through recorded video instruction, written educational content, and knowledge assessment, learners review upper extremity vascular anatomy and physiology, appropriate transducer selection and machine optimization, standardized arterial and venous scanning protocols, patient positioning, spectral Doppler and color flow interpretation, and diagnostic criteria for common pathologies. The activity also addresses arterial stenosis and occlusion, venous thrombosis and insufficiency, steal syndromes, and arteriovenous access complications. The activity is designed to strengthen the learners ability to perform comprehensive upper extremity duplex examinations, optimize imaging parameters, recognize normal and abnormal findings, and apply standardized diagnostic criteria. Following the activity, learners should be better prepared to produce accurate, consistent, and clinically useful vascular ultrasound examinations and reports.
