Evidence-Based Rescue Strategies for Relapse is a 1-hour enduring CME activity within the NMOSD Grand Rounds educational series. This session addresses evidence-based approaches to the acute management of relapses in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) and myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD). The activity reviews pathophysiologic mechanisms underlying relapse and examines first- and second-line rescue strategies, including high-dose corticosteroids, plasma exchange (PLEX), intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg), and other adjunctive therapies. Through case-based discussion and analysis of current clinical evidence, learners explore criteria for determining urgency of treatment, escalation strategies for refractory cases, and individualized decision-making approaches aimed at reducing relapse-related disability. This activity is designed to improve clinician competence in selecting and implementing appropriate rescue interventions aligned with current evidence and best practices.
