Toward Harmonized Relapse & Severity Adjudication

Toward Harmonized Relapse & Severity Adjudication is a 1-hour enduring CME activity within the NMOSD Grand Rounds educational series. This session focuses on improving clinician understanding of relapse recognition and severity classification in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). The activity reviews the clinical spectrum and frequency of NMOSD relapses and examines standardized criteria used to diagnose relapse events and categorize severity. Faculty discuss anatomic localization, targeted neurologic deficits, and structured assessment approaches used in both clinical and research settings. The session also introduces web-based adjudication frameworks designed to support accurate relapse identification and severity classification. Through evidence-based discussion and practical examples, this activity is designed to improve clinician competence in applying consistent, structured approaches to relapse adjudication in NMOSD.
