Pathogenesis & Immunologic Targets is a 1-hour enduring CME activity within the NMOSD Grand Rounds educational series. This session focuses on the immunopathogenesis of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) and the corresponding therapeutic targets used in current and emerging treatment strategies. Faculty review the roles of B cells, T cells, and pathogenic antibodies in disease development and discuss mechanisms of action of FDA-approved therapies. The activity also examines principles of immune tolerance and investigational approaches aimed at selective immune modulation. Through evidence-based discussion, this session is designed to improve clinician competence in understanding immunologic mechanisms and applying this knowledge to therapeutic decision-making in NMOSD.
